Intensive Course Terms & Conditions for Driving Instructors

Course Terms and Conditions:

  1. Each driving instructor must be self-employed, fully qualified DVSA ADI. Must have their own car with dual controls, the required insurance & follow Approved Driving Instructor code of practice.

  2. Course balance payment is due from the client to the ADI & the driving instructor is responsible for this payment.

  3. You should contact the client two weeks before the start of the driving course to arrange the course schedule and payment (email/text is preferred for schedule and bank details).

  4. When contacting the client, you should request the balance payment 2 weeks before the start of the course, by bank transfer (if you don’t do bank transfers, you can charge cash on the first day, but this comes with a risk of last-minute cancellation).

  5. If the client fails to pay the balance within a reasonable time from your request (i.e., a day or two), you should let us know, and we will chase them up.

  6. If you don’t get the payment 10 days prior to the start date of the course, let us know. The client will lose the space with no refunds, and if you give us this notice, it means we have the time to try to sell a new course and fill this space for you.

Driving Instructors in Scotland (PVG Scheme):

All instructors delivering courses in Scotland must be registered with the PVG Scheme by 20 June 2025. By accepting a course, you confirm that you are PVG-registered (or will be by this date) and hold a valid certificate.

Additional Info Related to Booking Clients’ Driving Tests:

Each client is responsible for booking their own theory test. We email them all instructions along with study materials upon course booking.

Once they pass their theory test, they must complete the driving test request form.

When we receive it, it goes to another team member who is responsible just for booking driving tests.

This is how this form looks: Test Form

We find most of the driving tests within 2 weeks from course completion, by looking for cancellations. If you are contacting the client 2 weeks before the start of their course, and they do not have a driving test booked yet, it’s worth reminding them about this form too (we usually remind clients about it too, but sometimes they forget to fill it in).

10-Day Course

(For beginners or those starting fresh)

Who would benefit most from this course?

This course is intended for individuals with little to no driving experience and includes a total of 40 hours.

The 10-day course is most suitable for clients who meet one of the following:

  • have no prior driving experience but are confident in their ability to learn quickly (note that 4 hours per day can be very exhausting, even with a break halfway through);
  • have taken driving lessons, but still feel the need to start “from scratch”;

Please note, learning to drive is a very individual process and you might need additional lessons after your course, if you are not safe & test ready.

Intensive driving courses are a great way to learn quickly, but they may not suit everyone. If you prefer a slower pace or find long sessions (around 4 hours a day) tiring, you might benefit more from regular lessons.

These courses require focus and energy, as the fast progress and upcoming test can feel demanding. However, with motivation and good concentration, many learners find them an excellent way to achieve success in a short time.

7-Day Course

(For those who know the basics)

Who would benefit most from this course?

With a total duration of 30 hours, this course is suitable for clients who meet one of the following:

  • have completed at least 10 hours of driving lessons with an approved instructor recently (e.g., within the last 6 months);
  • have undertaken at least 10 hours of private practice recently (e.g., within the last 6 months) and mastered the basics;
  • have taken a driving test within the past 4-10 years, but failed

Participants in this course should have a grasp of basic skills, including clutch control, moving off and stopping, dealing with easy junctions, progressive braking, gears, and easy hill starts.

Please note, learning to drive is a very individual process and you might need additional lessons after your course, if you are not safe & test ready.

5-Day Course

(for learners who are intermediate)

Who would benefit most from this course?

This course totaling 20 hours, is designed for intermediate clients who meet one of the following:

  • have taken at least 20 hours of driving lessons with a qualified instructor recently (e.g., within the last 6 months) and feel about halfway to being test-ready;
  • have engaged in extensive private practice in a safe and legal way (e.g., lessons with family) amounting to a minimum of 20 hours recently (e.g., within the last 6 months) and feel about halfway there;
  • have experience driving various vehicles (e.g. farm vehicles) on private land from a young age, are comfortable with car control, and just need experience on main roads;
  • had many driving lessons and have failed a driving test within the past 3 years;

Participants in this course should be confident in fundamental car skills, including clutch control, gears, hill starts, negotiating easy junctions, maneuvering through easy roundabouts, and performing at least one of the maneuvers.

Please note, learning to drive is a very individual process and you might need additional lessons after your course, if you are not safe & test ready.
